GREENWOOD

CULTURE CENTER

PROJECT

This project was to redesign a website for a company in our hometowns. I chose Greenwood because it allows visitors to take pictures at the museum and other historical locations. This project aimed to understand how to design a website for a company's target.

GREENWOOD

CULTURE CENTER

RATIONALE

In this project, I was to design a website for a company in my hometown to explore the whole design process for a target audience. While my hometown, Tulsa, has much to offer and is more known for its architecture. In 1921, a small part of downtown Tulsa was known as Black Wall Street. "It was one of the most prosperous African American communities in the United States. Before the 1921 Tulsa race massacre, it was a main thorough¬fare of the Greenwood commercial district. Segregation laws that prevented Black residents from shopping in white neighborhoods, and the desire to keep money circulating in their community is how it was born." Greenwood has created a center for people to learn about and experience Black Wall Street. They offer touring, events, and much more. So, they need a website that is easy to navigate and targets their audience.

I noticed that their website color scheme was heavily green, so much so that it looked cluttered, and certain design elements or information meant to stand out did not. So, I wanted to take a different route with the color scheme, which is why I chose some browns to help certain elements stand out.
